Hyderabad: The Tamil-language film DNA, starring Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan, is now being released in Telugu as My Baby. The movie will hit theaters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on July 18, 2025, through SK Pictures.
Directed by Nelson Venkatesan, the film was earlier released in Tamil Nadu on June 20. It got a mixed response at the box office but was praised for its performances and serious storyline. The movie also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Balaji Sakthivel, Ramesh Thilak, Viji Chandrasekhar, Chetan, Riythvika, Subramaniam Siva, and Karunakaran. The music is composed by Ghibran.
Just as the Telugu version gets ready for release, the makers have added a twist. The film will be released on the OTT platform Jio Hotstar the very next day, July 19, in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.
This has surprised many in the industry, as such a quick OTT release might reduce the number of people going to theaters. Since audiences can watch the film at home just a day later, many might skip the theatrical version.
Still, this move could help the film reach a larger audience online. With a strong cast and solid storytelling, DNA might do better on digital platforms even if the box office collections slow down.
