The live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic Lilo and Stitch has soared past the $1 billion mark at the global box office, thus becoming Hollywood’s first film to achieve the milestone this year, according to Disney Studios. The Dean Fleischer Camp directorial has garnered around $400 million from theatres in the US and about $600 million in international markets, reports Deadline. Disney Studios marked the milestone with a special video where the film’s cast and crew thank the audience for their support.
Alan Bergman, Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment, has expressed his gratitude for the film’s tremendous success. “We knew audiences around the world had a lot of love for Lilo and Stitchyet we never take that for granted,” Bergman stated. “We are proud of how this new film has connected with people. I am thankful to our filmmakers, our cast, and all on our studio team who have made this film such a success, and we look forward to more adventures with these characters ahead.”
