IIT Bombay Online Courses: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) counseling for admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT) has become a dream by 2025. Even after this, if someone wants admission to IIT, then there is a golden opportunity for them. IIT Bombay has started two professional certificate programs in software development and cybersecurity.

These programs are being offered by Trust Lab, IIT Bombay, and are specially designed for working professionals, faculty members, and students. The focus of these programs is on industry needs and practical skills. Registration for both these programs will be open till 25 August 2025.

Software Development: What is special in the software development course
This program emphasizes not only theory but also real-world skills. For this, lab-based exercises will be conducted every week.

People participating in this program will first be taught basic things like UNIX, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Then they will learn full-stack development using PHP, MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js), and React with Django. The course also includes testing methods and CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployment. In the future, topics like cloud computing, systems programming, and software engineering will also be added.

To get a professional certificate in this program, at least three courses have to be completed within two years. Each course has its own eligibility and evaluation rules. In this, selection will be based on academic transcripts, statement of purpose (SOP), and recommendation.

Cyber Security: What is special in the cyber security course
The course of Real World Cryptography will start from 1 September 2025. Encryption, digital signature, secure key exchange, and more will be taught in it.
The course of Network Security will start from 2 January 2026. Its focus will be on major Internet Protocol layer attacks and modern network protection strategies.

Each course will be online for 12-14 weeks. It will include pre-recorded lectures, labs assisted by TA (teaching assistants), and live tutorials on weekends. Students can also attend physical classes and participate in campus activities if they wish.

Eligibility

Industry professionals with a 3 or 4-year degree in engineering or computer science

Undergraduate third or fourth year and postgraduate students can apply.

Faculty members of related subjects can also apply.

How much is the fee?

The fee varies according to each course and category of participant. The fee for the core software development course ranges from Rs 19,000 to Rs 36,000, while the fee for the cyber security module ranges from Rs 36,000 to Rs 72,000. Learners will have to pay separately for each course and will get a certificate after completing each course. You will get a professional certificate when you complete all three required courses within two years.
