Vanessa Kirby recently shared a lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment with co-star Pedro Pascal from the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Reflecting on their time shooting promotional material together, Kirby affectionately described Pascal as a “snappy turtle.”

Vanessa Kirby talks about Pedro Pascal’s behaviour on set

Recently, Vanessa Kirby and Pedro Pascal opened up about their on-set behavior for the new Fantastic Four movie. During a joint appearance on The Spill podcastthe pair was asked what the most surprising thing they learned about each other was while working on the film. Kirby immediately began to giggle and looked visibly amused, while Pascal smiled knowingly and confessed, “Yes, I’m a grump! I’m a grump — it doesn’t make me a bad person!”

Kirby explained that Pascal’s typically cheerful mood shifts during long days on set. She explained, “He never stops smiling! And at about, I would say, 6 p.m., if we go into overtime, then he gets a little bit snappy. A bit cranky.” However, the actress explained that Pascal goes back to normal after “about an hour.”

Pedro went on to provide more context, saying, “We had to do these, like, promo things, we were shooting all day long.” He recalled how Kirby and co-star Joseph Quinn would constantly mention how tired they were. As Kirby agreed, Pascal added that the situation would sometimes get under his skin. He said, “She’s pregnant, the whole thing… They get me all worked up. They get me all worked up, and my protective vibes get going.”

Pascal admitted that while he was focused on getting things wrapped up quickly, Kirby and Quinn often wanted to explore more options during takes. “And then the two of them [Vanessa and Joseph] are like: ‘Oh, why don’t we try it like this? Why don’t we try it like that?” he recalled.

Laughing, Kirby chimed in, “And then he turns into a snappy turtle.” Pascal responded with a story about a moment when she scolded him. He said, “And you said: ‘Don’t get snappy with me!’” Kirby laughed and confirmed the story.
