The ongoing debate in Maharashtra has now turned into a sharp political dispute. MNS chief Raj Thackeray gave a strong reply to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and said that if he has talked about beating the Marathi people, then he should come to Mumbai and show it, we will hit the sea. Thackeray warned that whoever insults Marathi language or culture will be taught a lesson in Maharashtra style.
Referring to the incident in Meera Road, he said that the person who was killed received an answer in his language. If you want to live in Maharashtra, you have to learn Marathi language. He reiterated that if someone is in peace, the Maharashtrians have no problem, but if someone tries to provoke, he will get an answer.
Targeting Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Raj Thackeray said that the government is trying to make Hindi compulsory from class I to fifth, which is against the identity of Maharashtra. He said that Marathi should be made mandatory in the entire state and not Hindi. He claims that some traders and leaders are trying to partition in Mumbai and Maharashtra.
Commenting on Hindi language, Thackeray said that the history of Marathi is thousands of years old, while Hindi is a mixed and only 200 year old language, which has swallowed more than 250 languages so far. He said in satire that it will take 1200 more years for Hindi to become an aristocratic language.
Finally, he made it clear that he is a Hindu but not accepted to impose Hindi on him. Whatever non -Marathi people live in Maharashtra, they should learn to speak Marathi as soon as possible and should give priority to Marathi in public life.
