Air India Plane Crash: The central government has been active after the horrific plane crash on June 12 in Ahmedabad. According to reports, the government has issued a new draft rules for strictness on dangerous height buildings and trees near the airport. After this, action can be taken to break or demolish the building there. The Ministry of Civil Aviation of the Government has issued a new draft rule, which has been named Aircraft (Demolition of Obstructions) Rules, 2025. Its purpose is that if a building, tree or any other structure around the airport is higher than the fixed height and can obstruct the flight of the aircraft, strict action can be taken against it.
Under the rule, if the airport officer finds during inspection that a building or structure is higher than the prescribed height, he can send a notice to its owner. The owner will have to provide all information to that structure like site plan and its height etc. within 60 days. If the owner does not give information or does not follow the rules, the building can be dropped completely or its additional part. According to the rule, the airport in -charge will get this right under Section 18 (1), so that he will be able to take action without delay. Under the rules, the airport officer can inspect any building or place by giving notice in advance. If the owner does not cooperate in the investigation, the matter will be sent to DGCA i.e. Directorate General of Civil Aviation. If any structure repeatedly ignores the rules, the district collector will take strict action against it, such as cutting trees or demolishing the building.
If the owner of the building follows the rules, he will get compensation. This compensation will be given under the Indian Aircraft Act, 2024. But if any new construction is done without permission after the notice, compensation will not be given. In addition, if anyone has objections to the order given, he can appeal to the First Applete Officer or Second Applelate Officer. For this, the prescribed form, required documents and a fee of Rs 1,000 will have to be deposited. But only those who follow the order will be able to claim compensation.
However, before making a law on this, the government has also sought opinion from the public on this draft, for which people can send their suggestions or objections to DGCA within 20 days. All the parties will be heard before applying the rules.
