Indian cinema legend Shah Rukh Khan has temporarily stepped away from shooting his much-anticipated action-thriller King after sustaining an injury during filming. The incident occurred while the 59-year-old actor was performing a physically demanding scene at Mumbai’s Golden Tobacco Studio.

Though the exact nature of the injury hasn’t been officially confirmed, sources close to the production reveal it to be a muscular strain rather than a serious condition. Despite this, Khan has flown to the United States with his team to undergo specialized medical treatment and has been advised to rest for at least a month.

A source familiar with the situation stated, “It’s not critical, but Shah Rukh has previously endured multiple injuries due to his action-heavy roles. Doctors have recommended a full month of rest before he resumes work.”

Production on King has been temporarily halted, affecting shooting schedules originally planned through July and August. Filming is now expected to resume in September or October, with location bookings at major studios in Mumbai—including Film City and Yash Raj Studios—put on hold.

King is being directed by Siddharth Anand, known for delivering the massive hit Pathaan, and features a star-studded cast that includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Jaideep Ahlawat, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Abhi Verma. Suhana, Shah Rukh’s daughter, is set to play a significant role, making the film a milestone in her acting journey.

The story reportedly centers around a dark and emotional narrative, with Khan playing a skilled assassin driven by personal loss, embarking on a path of vengeance alongside his daughter’s character. While the film is not an official remake, it draws creative influence from earlier action thrillers like Bichhoo, itself inspired by Léon: The Professional.

Initially under the direction of Sujoy Ghosh, the film saw a change in leadership when Siddharth Anand stepped in, bringing a new vision to the project. Shooting is planned across diverse locations in India and Europe.

Despite the temporary delay, those involved remain hopeful about the film’s future. “Shah Rukh is expected to bounce back with full strength once he recovers,” a team member noted.
