Haridwar: Kavad Yatra has entered its final phase and a large number of Kawandis have reached Haridwar. The city is full of devotees to take the holy Ganges water to offer Lord Shiva. The officials hope that the total number of pilgrims will cross 3 crore by the end of Sunday. The number of postal kanwadis returning early after filling the water is increasing, and the police have implemented a traffic plan to control the increasing crowd. From the city roads to Har Ki Pauri, the entire area is filled with devotees and vehicles.
A large number of pilgrims are reaching Haridwar via Nagla Imrati and are going towards the scheduled parking areas. Haridwar SSP Pramendra Singh Doval said, “The third phase has begun, which mainly involves traffic diversion, parking is active, and many parking sites are already full. Route diversion work is going on, and the exit scheme is also going on. We are sure that we will organize a safe Kanwar Yatra.
He said, “Information about Marg Parivartan Yojana has been given through the media and QR code and the kanwadis are also following it. Police officials said that the parking areas are now filled, CCTV cameras have been installed in the entire area and the officials are regularly monitoring the situation. Toilets, drinking water and health facilities have been arranged on parking and Kanwar routes.
Officials said that today the number of visitors is expected to exceed three crores and they have urged the devotees to maintain peace and return after taking water.
Devotees from many states including Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are coming. There is a crowd of Ganga water on Har Ki Pauri. So far, more than two and a half million kanwadis have left for their destinations with water. The rest of the remaining postal kanwadis are which return quickly with water and police officers have been informed about it.
Some Kanwari told ANI that the system made by the government is satisfactory and thanked the officials for their efforts.
