Glenn Maxwell is just three runs away from 7000 international runs for Australia. In his career he has 6993 runs in 272 games. That’s an average of 31.78, strike rate of 128.59, 10 centuries and 34 fifties.

He’s just three runs behind Don Bradman who had 6996 runs in 52 games. Bradman averaged 99.94 with a strike rate of 58.60 and 29 centuries and 13 fifties.

The top run scorers for Australia in international cricket are Ricky Ponting (27368 runs in 559 games), David Warner (18995 runs in 383 games) and Steve Waugh (18496 runs in 493 games).

Last month Maxwell retired from ODIs, ending his 13 year career in that format. He’ll still play T20Is, focusing on the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, Big Bash League and other commitments.

In his ODI career Maxwell scored 3990 runs at an average of 33.81, top score of 201*, four centuries and 23 fifties. He also took 77 wickets with his spin bowling at an average of 47.32, best figures of 4/40. Maxwell played 149 ODI games for Australia and many consider his innings against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup to be one of the best ever. Coming in with Australia at 7-91 he fought through severe cramps and extreme heat.

His 202 run partnership with Pat Cummins (12) helped Australia reach 293. Maxwell scored 201 off 128 balls, 21 fours and 10 sixes. Australia then won the World Cup, beating India in Ahmedabad. Maxwell’s strike rate of 126 is second highest in ODI cricket, behind only Andre Russell.Maxwell had many good games in his ODI career, two World Cup wins in 2015 and 2019. He’s one of Australia’s best in World Cups, 901 runs in 27 games (25 innings) at 47.42, three centuries and two fifties. He scored at a strike rate of over 160 and took 12 wickets. He also holds the record for the fastest World Cup century, 100 off 40 balls against the Netherlands in 2023 in Delhi.
