Every now and then, many movies and films are made which often cross the budget of Rs 100 crore at the box office. Despite that, some movies, series, and others flop.

However, today we will tell you about the most expensive Indian films ever made, yet their budget is dwarfed by that of India's costliest TV show-a grand historical epic that reportedly cost a staggering Rs 500 crore to produce. Yes, you read that right! Scroll down to read more about it.
India's Most Expensive TV Show
India's most expensive TV show is Porus, which was released in 2017-2018. According to a report by FirstPost, the show had a whopping budget of Rs 500 crore, which was, at the time, higher than any film made in India. Since the release of the series, other movies, including Adipurush, RRR, and Kalki 2898 AD, have surpassed this budget.
Yet, Porus still stands as a larger project than some of India's biggest blockbusters, surpassing the budgets of films like Baahubali 2 (Rs 250 crore), Brahmastra: Part One (Rs 350 crore), Jawan (Rs 300 crore), and even the recent release Singham Again (Rs 350 crore).
What is the Reason Behind Such an Expensive Budget for Porus?
The serial was based on the historical Paurava king of the same name, who famously fought the Greek emperor Alexander in the fourth century BC. The show was mounted on a huge scale, with producers wanting to make it as grand as the Baahubali film series.
To get the right look and feel of the series, massive sets were built, and top-notch VFX supervisors were hired. Much of the production took place overseas. On average, each of the 299 episodes of the series cost around Rs 1.70 crore to produce.
