Released earlier this year on Prime Video, Khauf turned out to be a stellar horror show, noted for its atmospheric storytelling and exploration of social themes with the genre. Now, its creator Smita Singh has teased a season 2 of the show.

During the latest edition of ‘Vartalap‘, held by the Screenwriters Association (SWA), Smita spoke about how she mounted the Prime Video original, which was lauded for its inventive storytelling and superlative performances when it dropped on the platform in April. She was in a conversation with writer-filmmaker Charudutt Acharya.

Smita stated that before Khauf was released, the streamers were not keen to explore horror, but she is not aware if that has changed today. She said, “I was told that they are not looking at the genre in a big way before the show came out. When Khauf was released, they felt the show did well. They feel that horror is a niche genre, and Khauf was a bit more niche, but they are still happy, as it was a win for them. I do feel a certain amount of gratitude that they let me do this and gave me the entire journey. So when they told me the show has worked for them as well, I was happy.”
