Why not use iron things on Nag Panchami?

Nag panchami 2025: Nag Panchami is a major festival of Hinduism, which is celebrated on the Panchami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. According to the Panchang, the festival of Nag Panchami will be celebrated on 29 July this year. On this day, especially the Nag Devta is worshiped and they are wished for happiness, peace, health and fear-free life in life. There are many traditions and beliefs related to this day, one of which is not to use things made of iron. Let's know the interesting reason behind this.

Why should not use iron?

According to the beliefs of Hinduism, the use of things made of iron, especially tawa, knives, scissors and iron utensils on the day of Nag Panchami, is considered taboo. Religious, astrological and symbolic reasons are considered behind this.

Why is the pan considered a symbol of Rahu?

According to religious belief, Tave is considered a symbol of Rahu planet. Rahu is considered a shadow planet which can cause disturbance, disease and obstacles in a person's life. By using iron pan or other iron things on the day of Nag Panchami, it is believed that Rahu's defect can arise. Rahu is also considered a symbol of a snake, and the day of Nag Panchami is directly connected to the serpents. In such a situation, if Rahu is not pleased on this day, or inadvertently he was misbehaved, then there can be situations like Rahu Dosha, Kalsarpa Yoga in life.

Astrological approach

According to astrology, iron is also related to Saturn and Rahu planets. When Rahu grows under the influence of Saturn, he can bring mental stress, failure and bitterness in relationships in a person's life. Therefore, it is considered better to stay away from iron on holy and peace -loving days like Nag Panchami.

Ban in folk traditions

In rural areas and traditional families, bread or paratha is not made on the pan on this day, iron-bored items are not run and the use of iron utensils is completely postponed in the house. Women use more things made of clay or copper on this day.

What happens if iron is used by mistake?

If for some reason the person is used on the day of Nag Panchami, then according to the astrologers, he should apologize to the serpent god and chant the mantra of Nag Stotra or "Om Namah Nagdevataya" in the evening.
