5 Vegetables that have more vitamin C than oranges
There’s no denying that oranges have the highest amount of vitamin C, but do you know much like oranges there are several vegetables that actually contain more vitamin c than oranges! Yes, you read it right, these veggies are great for boosting immunity, collagen production, iron absorption, and improving skin health. Here’s five everyday vegetables that surpass oranges in vitamin C content and can be easily added to your diet.
Red Bell Peppers
Red bell peppers rank among the richest vitamin C fruits and contain nearly 190 mg per 100g, nearly three times that of an orange. They're also rich in antioxidants such as beta-carotene and flavonoids. Use them raw in salads, grill or stir-fry so their vitamins are not lost.
Broccoli
Broccoli has approximately 89 mg of vitamin C in every 100g, as well as fiber, vitamin K, and folate. Broccoli aids in detoxification, immunity, and also greatly benefits the skin and bones. Steaming or minimal sautéing broccoli helps retain most of its content without destroying vitamin C.
Kale
Kale has approximately 120 mg of vitamin C in every 100g and is a real superfood. It also has rich concentrations of iron, calcium, and vitamin A. It is great in smoothies, soups, or garlic sautéed with olive oil. It serves to protect against infection and keep the heart and eyes healthy.
Brussels Sprouts
These tiny cabbages provide about 85 mg vitamin C per 100g. They not only are high in fiber and sulfur compounds that aid in liver detoxification and anti-inflammatory action but also have vitamin C. Roasted Brussels sprouts with a squeeze of lemon juice are delicious and nutritious as well.
Mustard greens (Sarson ka Saag)
Mustard greens, widely used in Indian kitchens, contain around 130 mg of vitamin C per 100g. Along with a peppery flavor, they offer vitamin A, calcium, and antioxidants. Cooking them lightly in mustard oil or adding to dals can be an excellent way to boost your daily vitamin C intake naturally.
