The third single from director Lokesh Kangaraj’s action thriller Coolie has already set the internet on fire. The rousing number ‘Powerhouse’, sung by music composer Anirudh Ravichander and rapper Arivu, is a full-blown musical storm celebrating the superstar who is set to play the character Deva.

Touted to be a mass entertainer in 2025 with superstar Rajinikanth in the lead, Coolie comes with high expectations. It was recently hinted that Rajini’s character in the film could bring back memories of his character in Mani Ratnam’s most popular Thalapathy. The third single has raised the expectations of Rajini fans with a high-energy track celebrating the superstar.

Released on a popular audio platform, ‘Powerhouse’ is, straying true to the name, a power-packed track with ‘Breaking Bad’ references. With an animated fight sequence with monochrome visuals, it has the touch of red and gold symbolising the extent of the gold and gore in the film. On numerous occasions, Lokesh mentioned his admiration for shows like Breaking Bad and Peaky Blinders. Anirudh references Bryan Cranston’s popular dialogue, “Say my name. You’re goddamn right,” in the background.

The makers had earlier released two singles from the film. Rajinikanth’s unmatched aura and Anirudh’s foot-tapping music made the first single ‘Chikitu’ a super hit. A peppy number, ‘Chikitu’ came out as a special music video with Anirudh mirroring the same moves performed by Rajinikanth. A promo video shot with Anirudh and the ever-iconic T. Rajendar promised a feast for fans, turning out to be a surprise like never before. Anirudh and Rajendar grooving to the music and Rajinikanth entering the frame was a visual treat for the thalaivar fans.

The second single from Coolie, Monicafeaturing the Retro actress Pooja Hegde in a stunning new avatar, was again a super hit, raising the expectations around the film. Clad in a striking red outfit and channelling a vintage cabaret charm, Pooja Hegde and Soubin Shahir set social media ablaze. The song mentions the well-known Italian actress Monica Bellucci.

A standalone from Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is expected to be a masss entertainer with lead actors like Akkineni Nagarjuna, Sattyaraj, Updra, Soubin Shahir and Shruthan Hasan. The first glimpse video of Coolie was released on May 6, 2025, in which Rajinikanth was seen standing at a port. The video ends with the superstar whistling.
