When people dream of spending some time away in the sun, many Brits opt to travel to Greece. As well as boasting sunny climates, the Greek islands are known for being beautiful, charming and full of colour - qualities all travelfans usually adore; however, recently people admitted they've been left "stressed and scared" after visiting a popular hotspot.
Various videos have circulated on TikTok showcasing the hectic scenes in Santorini. The island, located in the southern Aegean Sea around 200 km southeast from the mainland, has been super popular with tourists for years thanks to it stunning views, picturesque buildings and surroundings that are beautiful for the perfect Instagram snaps.
But, according to holidaymakers, the island has now become so popular that it's becoming "hard to move" when visiting key areas, and it's left them feeling "stressed." Some have even claimed visiting the destination has been far from what they were expecting.

Dr Rad Rawan shared one video of the crowds in the streets and said: "I was getting so claustrophobic and scared. Wasn't like this the other days I was in Santorini, so I don't know what happened today."
The video was taken at 11am during a hot day in July, and thousands of people were quick to comment. Many admitted the area is now "full of tourists."
One person replied, saying: "No thanks. Santorini and Mykonos are purely for tourists, and not the real Greece." Another added: "Santorini is the most overrated Greek island. Please keep going to the other islands stay nice."
A third replied: "I swear only Oia is like this. The rest of the island, which is also so picturesque, is lovely to visit." Meanwhile, a fourth also commented: "Visited while on a cruise. Would never go back. Feel sorry for the locals."
However, there are other people who claimed they've had "beautiful holidays" in Santorini. The key, according to many people, is visiting outside of peak travel season.
One said: "Santorini is defintiely the most beautiful place. I went in May and it was the time to visit. Worth every penny and, in my opinion, not a tourist trap at all."
However, travel vlogger Olly Bloom also said she didn't think Santorini was "worth the hype" after she experienced similar issues with crowds. In her video, she said she's aware that lots of people rave about Oia, as it homes a famous blue dome where people like to take pictures.
Following her visit, she thought it was "overrated", as the streets were "so packed", and people even had to queue to take pictures. She explained: "If you are like me, and you hate stress and holidays, skip the crowd, and stay in places like Pyrgos, Kamari and Fira.
"These places have their charm and way fewer tourists, and you can actually breathe while enjoying yourself. Trust me, your Instagram pictures will still be fire, and you can still get your money's worth for your holiday."
In recent years, Santorini has become a popular destination for Brits due to its stunning scenery, dramatic caldera views, unique volcanic beaches and picturesque whitewashed villages. The island's beauty, particularly the sunsets over the caldera and the distinctive architecture, has contributed to it becoming a top destination for those seeking some sun.
However, some claim that social media has caused its popularity to boom even more, as so many people make content focusing on the beauty of the island. When you visit during peak travel season, it's perhaps natural to expect crowds.
One person suggested: "Go in September when the kids are back in school." Another wrote: "Santorini is amazing, people just go to the wrong part."
