Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Despite a proposed incentive ranging from ₹ 50,000 to ₹ 1 lakh in addition to gross salaries, faculty recruitment in newly opened government medical colleges of Madhya Pradesh is seeing poor response.

Recruitment drives are currently underway in government medical colleges at Shivpuri, Sheopur, Singrauli, Neemuch and Mandaur, according to Director of Medical Education (DME).

Under the plan, faculty joining medical colleges in remote areas are to be given a monthly incentive—₹ 50,000 for assistant professors and ₹ 1 lakh for professors. This applies equally to faculty recruited from private medical colleges as well as those transferred from government institutions.

However, the government is yet to release an official order for the incentive. The delay is being blamed for the poor recruitment response.

Dr Rakesh Malviya of the MP Medical Teachers Association (MTA) said the absence of a formal order has created uncertainty. “This incentive is meant for both types of appointments—transfer from government colleges and fresh recruitment from private ones. Those from private institutions will need to resign and appear for interviews. But without the order, interest is low,” he said.
