The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a significant relief for farmers, offering a 50% subsidy on fencing to protect horticultural crops. This initiative is now integrated into the Integrated Horticulture Development Mission Scheme and will be implemented on a "first come, first served" basis.

Dinesh Pratap Singh, State Minister for Horticulture, Agriculture Marketing, Agriculture Foreign Trade, and Agriculture Export, stated that the government is continuously working to ensure higher profits for horticulturists at lower costs.

This new provision offers an additional benefit alongside existing subsidies for fruits, vegetables, spices, flowers, aromatic, and medicinal plants.

Under the scheme, the permissible cost for one running meter of fencing is set at ₹300, with farmers receiving a subsidy of ₹150 per meter. Each farmer can avail subsidy for a maximum of 1000 meters of fencing. For the financial year 2025-26, the government has set a target of 2.5 lakh meters of fencing. This effort is expected to not only protect horticultural crops but also strengthen the economic condition of farmers.

Interested horticulturists can register for the scheme on the dbt.uphorticul-ture.in portal.
