Lumbini Buddhist University, Lumbini, Nepal on 27-28 July 2025 “Diplomacy and Buddhaz Teaching: A Path to Global Peace and Sustainable Development Symposium was signed on Sunday during the inauguration ceremony of Siddharth University, Kapilvastu (Uttar Pradesh) and South Asia Foundation-Nepal during the inauguration ceremony of Symposium. Siddharth University, and Rahul Barua, was signed by Honorary General Secretary, South Asia Foundation.

Under this partnership, the South Asia Center for Peace Research and Sustainable Development will be established, which will encourage joint research and educational programs on peace, Buddhist studies and sustainable development. This initiative will give a new dimension to international cooperation, underlining the relevance of Buddhist teachings for global peace and development.

On this occasion, Prof. Kavita Shah said that Buddha’s teachings are as relevant today as two millennia. Through this MoU, our aim is to restore them in the context of global peace and sustainable development. University NAC Coordinator Prof. Saurabh said that the objective of this partnership is to speed up cooperative research work in the field of Buddhist philosophy, peace studies and sustainable development in the South Asian region.

This center will provide a shared platform to students, researchers, academics and policy makers, which will strengthen international cooperation and cultural dialogues. The event was attended by Buddhist scholars, researchers and representatives of universities from many South Asian countries including Nepal, India.
