Divya deshmukh wins fide women’s world cup title: India’s 19 -year -old female chess player Divya Deshmukh has created history. Divya has achieved the biggest success of her career by winning the FID Women’s World Cup title. Divya won the title by defeating her compatriot and more experienced player Koneru Hampi in a tiebreaker.
Divya Deshmukh on Monday defeated Hamantan Koneru Hampi with a score of 2.5-1.5 in the Tiebreak of the FIDE Women’s World Cup final and registered her name in the history of chess and became the first Indian champion of this prestigious tournament.
Playing with white pieces in the first Baji, Divya stopped Hampi again on a draw but in the second Baji, he defeated the two-time world rapid champion and won 2.5–1.5. Deshmukh will now get a prize money of $ 50,000 in addition to the prestigious trophy.
With this victory, 19 -year -old Divya not only won this prestigious tournament but also became Grandmaster which looked impossible at the beginning of the tournament. She is only the fourth Indian woman and a total of 88th player to become a grandmaster. The Nagpur player won the tiebreaker after two classical matches played on Saturday and Sunday.
