If you’re like most Heartstopper fans, you’ve probably been wondering: What’s next for Charlie and Nick? Season 3, which landed in October 2024, tugged at all the right heartstrings—full of growth, tough conversations, and love that felt real. But ever since those final credits rolled, one big question’s been floating around: Are we getting a Season 4?
Well, we finally have our answer. And it’s a bit of a curveball.
On April 22, 2025—marking three years since the show first premiered—Netflix officially announced that Season 3 was the final season. But don’t worry, that’s not the end of the road. Instead of another batch of episodes, Heartstopper will return one last time as a feature-length film.
Yep, a full-on movie finale.
The film will adapt Volume 6 of Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper graphic novels (the final volume) along with moments from the beloved Nick and Charlie novella. According to Oseman, this movie is meant to be a “magical conclusion” to the story—and one that fans truly deserve. She’s deeply involved, just like always, and says she’s excited to wrap things up in a way that does justice to Charlie and Nick’s journey.
Honestly, it makes sense when you hear Oseman talk about it. After back-to-back seasons and a pretty intense schedule, she admitted it’s been exhausting juggling writing and production. Volume 6 of the graphic novel is still being created—she only picked it back up in late 2024 after a break. So, instead of stretching out the final arc over another full season, a movie gives her space to focus on the heart of the story without the burnout.
Plus, narratively, the show has followed the books closely:
Season 1 = Volumes 1 & 2
Season 2 = Volume 3
Season 3 = Volumes 4 & 5
With only Volume 6 left, a single movie feels like the natural finale. It also allows for a more cinematic look at what’s next for Nick and Charlie—things like university, growing up, and navigating long-distance love.
