The Central Board of Secondary Education i.e., CBSE, has tightened the noose on the big irregularity going on across the country. Sudden raids were conducted on 15 schools in 7 states and union territories like Delhi, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. In this action, 'dummy students' were found in many schools. Actually, these were such students whose names are written in the school, but they never attend classes. These students were given admission in the school only to give board exams, which is clearly a violation of the rules. Let's know what is the whole matter?

What is the game of 'dummy student'?

CBSE, in its investigation, found in many schools that the number of students in class 11th and 12th is much more than that of class 9th and 10th. This led to the suspicion that something wrong is going on in the schools. The investigation revealed that some schools have registered the names of students fraudulently. These students neither study in school nor go to class. Their aim is only to pass the board exams. Many times schools do this in collaboration with coaching centers, so that students can focus on coaching and a false record of attendance in school is maintained. This is not only harmful for education, but also plays with the future of students.

How was the action taken?

CBSE detected this irregularity with the help of technology. Data analysis revealed which schools have wrong enrollment figures. After this, 15 teams simultaneously raided all the schools. Each team included a CBSE official and a school principal. It was ensured that no school had any prior information, so that the truth could come out.

What was found in the investigation?

Over-enrolment: The number of students in class 11th and 12th was more than required, which is against the rules.

Lack of education and facilities: Many schools did not have proper classrooms, teachers and study environment.

Fake students: At many places, students were found whose names were in the register, but they never came to school.

Irregularities in records: A big difference was found between the records and reality of the schools.

CBSE's strict stance

CBSE has made it clear that strict action will be taken if any irregularities are found after the report comes. The board says that children should get good and honest education. If any school breaks the rules or commits fraud, it will not be spared.
