According to ZnewsChinese outlet 163 reported on Thursday that screenwriter Yang Yang, owner of the damaged car, confirmed the verdict on social media.
“It took half a year, but the matter is finally settled,” Yang wrote. “Li Mingde has been sentenced to six months in prison and must pay 200,000 yuan in compensation. I hope he learns from this and lives a better life.”
The incident occurred in early February in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. According to Global TimesLi was intoxicated when he encountered Yang’s car, reportedly parked improperly in a public space and blocking other vehicles. In a fit of frustration, Li kicked the doors, tore off the car’s emblems, and broke the side mirrors—acts that led to a police investigation and criminal charges.
Li initially admitted to the vandalism and expressed remorse, promising to cover repair costs. However, after receiving a detailed repair bill totaling 90,000 yuan, he reportedly reneged on his promise and cut off contact with the car’s owner. Yang then filed a police report. Li subsequently disappeared from public view and has remained inactive on social media.
Li, 29, graduated from the Beijing Film Academy and debuted in the 2018 drama “When We Were Young.” He rose to fame through roles in hit series such as “Go Go Squid!,” “Lovely Us,” and “The Blue Whisper.”
The actor had already drawn public attention earlier this year after accusing the production team of his drama “The Triple Echo of Time” of favoritism toward co-star Ma Tianyu.
