Such a case was recently revealed from Kerala. Where a person suffered a loss of Rs 4 lakh. He got an SMS, which looked like a real bank. In the message, it was asked to update the net banking app, as they clicked on the link and downloaded the app and put the information, four lakh rupees were withdrawn from the account.
Fake apps mostly come up with hide screen sharing tools. In such a situation, when clicking on the link, all the screen is shared with hackers and thugs can easily see your password and OTP. The link to such apps is mostly sent by SMS, email and fake advertisements. People are often deceived when the real bank design and logo appears.
If you are a victim of cyber fraud, then go to the bank immediately and file a complaint. You can file a complaint with a missed call on the number 14440 online.
If you have sent money to someone else's account by mistake, there is no need to get upset. According to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India, in such a situation, if the complaint is made within 48 hours, the money can be returned. On sending wrong money from UPI, call PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm helpline number and give all the details. If the banks do not repay on time, then you can complain on the NPCI portal. After the process is completed here, the transaction will be verified, after which money will be received in 2-3 working days.
