While hearing a petition to encroachment and illegal construction, Delhi High Court directed the New Delhi Movement Corporation (NDMC) to immediately stop unauthorized or illegal construction in Sarojini Nagar Market. A bench of Justice Mini Pushkaran sought a reply on the action taken by the NDMC against the illegal encroachment by shopkeepers in the market.

The bench directed the NDMC to present the fresh affidavit and the status report on the case. Also said that the report should be told how much encroachment was done by various shopkeepers and what action NDMC wants to take against such encroachments.

The bench listed the case hearing for 31 October and said that if any new unauthorized construction/encroachment is being done in the market, then NDMC should stop it immediately.

The court gave the above instructions while hearing the petition of Sarojini Nagar Market Rehdi Patra Hakars Development Committee. The petition sought to remove illegal encroachments and construction by shopkeepers or in the market.

The affidavit filed earlier by NDMC stated that action was taken to remove encroachments. After considering the report, the court directed the NDMC to present a detailed report on the action taken by him.
