They are single parents of both their children Yash and Ruhi. He has recently described his feelings in emotional mood. Talking in the podcast "Soul Travel with Bhav", Karan told how he explained to his children about his birth, "First, I was very emotional about it and told him that you had come from the grandfather's heart. Then my daughter understood its biology and she said that it is not a positive. He calls my mother as 'Mama'. She is very big that she is a grandmother in the act.

Film maker and director KJO is known for filming emotional scenes in his films beautifully. Something happens, sometimes Khushi or Gum's family scene is considered iconic. Now in the life of tax, some similar situation is going to be made, where they are in great disgrace when and how will they tell their children about their birth process.

Karan Johar gave birth to twins, Yash and Ruhi on 7 February 2017 through surrogacy. Both are named Yash Johar on his wife Heeru Johar. Both of them have been raised by Karan's mother.
