Backup Partner Facts: According to the UK new survey, about 50% of women hold 'backup partners' in relationships. Most women keep such a Plan-B option ready for protection from emotional security and uncertainty.

Relationship Trends Survey: If you think that relationships are on the honesty and trust between only two people, then this new survey can surprise you. According to a recent survey in the United Kingdom (UK), every other woman prepares a 'backup partner' in her relationship, that is, someone who is ready to adopt when her current relationship is ready. This trend shows not just a number, but the growing uncertainty in today's relationship, the desire for the emotional security, and the changing thinking shows. Know the reality behind this shocking survey in this article.

1000 women were included in the survey

The survey was conducted by the UK's OnePoll institution, which included questions about the backup partner from 1000 women, who also included married women. The results were shocking. About 50 percent of the women admitted that they already have a backup partner in their minds, so that if their current relationship is broken, they could move directly towards that person. That is, they already have a 'Plan‑b' prepared. In today's relationship language, this trend is called 'benching'.

What is a backup partner?

The backup partner is the person who has often been forced to be considered an old friend, ex-boyfriend, office colleague or gym partner for years. In this case, about 10% of the women said that their Plan‑b had first confessed their feelings, while Ek Chouthi said that the person could leave anything for them, if they need them.

Does their current partner know?

In some cases the answer was- yes. According to the survey, about 40% of the women said that their current partner knew about their Plan‑b. Some took it jokingly, but sometimes this was also a cause of discomfort and stress in the relationship.

Expert opinion

According to the relationship counselor, keeping a backup partner "Plan‑b" can be seen in any gender people. When there is instability in a relationship, lack of love or emotional engagement starts to weaken, then the person starts thinking about another option to feel mentally safe. This is a kind of mental security process.

Is this morally correct?

On the one hand, while it can be considered as preparation and emotional security, on the other hand it raises questions on loyalty and priority in relationships. If there is an atmosphere of trust, understanding and talking openly in a relationship, then the need of a backup partner is not felt. This trend also shows increasing insecurity and changing thinking in today's relationships.
