The Delhi government has intensified the search for the location for the construction of the new secretariat. According to Public Works Department Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, currently four possible sites have been identified, which are being considered. The functioning is affected due to lack of space in the current secretariat and the distance of various departments. All modern facilities will be available in the new secretariat.

These 4 places were selected
The minister clarified that the new secretariat will be established at the same place which will be agreed. He said that four possible sites include Rajghat Thermal Power Plant, Khyber Pass, PWD headquarters at ITO and Indraprastha Estate near WHO building. Pravesh Verma informed that the Rajghat thermal power plant has been closed for many years and its area is about 18 acres, where a new secretariat can be set up by building tall buildings. The government is planning to develop this project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which will also help in recovery of the cost of the project. 70 percent of this land is with the Delhi government, while the remaining is under DDA.
Plan to build the building in PPE mode
The Delhi government is considering the construction of a 35 -storey secretariat building, which ranks in Rajghat region. This land is in joint ownership of Delhi government and DDA. As soon as the final decision in relation to this site will be taken, the Delhi government will start the process of obtaining this land from the DDA. Like the construction of the Corporation Headquarters Civic Center, the Delhi government is also planning to adopt a public-private participation (PPP) model for its secretariat building.

When was the current building of Delhi Secretariat built?
The company has constructed a separate tower for the purpose of raising the necessary funds for the construction of the civic center. Delhi Secretariat, which is located near the Indira Gandhi Stadium of ITO, is known as Players Building. This building does not live up to seismic standards.
The construction of this building started during the Asian Games in 1982, but due to non -completion of work on time, this hotel could not be ready on time. Subsequently, the Delhi government decided to shift to the player building after transferring from civil lines. Along with the Chief Minister and Ministers in the Delhi Secretariat, only 19 departments of the offices could be transferred.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta indicated
PWD has a negative effect on functioning due to the Jal Board and different offices of the Health Department at different places. Keeping this problem in mind, in 2022, the plan to construct two towers associated with the Delhi Secretariat was planned in the PWD headquarters campus at ITO. However, due to the slow progress of this scheme, it went into cold storage.
The Delhi government has indicated to resume the plan for construction of the new secretariat. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta gave information in this regard four days ago. This secretariat is based on the proposed plan to build in the PWD headquarters campus.
The twin tower was to be constructed here, in which one tower was to be demolished on the plot of Vikas Bhawan and the other tower PWD headquarters (MSO) and GST building to be demolished and installed in their place. 53,603 square meters of land can be used to develop the tower and its premises for this project.

The Rajghat power plant has more space available than the MSO building, which increases the possibility of better parking and security. If the MSO building is used as a headquarters, there may be problems with traffic jams and parking in future. Experts believe that it will be necessary to demolish the MSO and GST building for the construction of the secretariat, while the age of these two multi -storey buildings is still 30 to 40 years.
These facilities will be in the new secretariat
All the departments of the government will be transferred to the twin tower, which will be developed as a green building and will have state -of -the -art facilities.
These towers will have the offices of Chief Minister, Ministers, Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and their assistant employees.
Special attention will be paid to internal decoration, and auditoriums with a capacity of 2000, 1000 and 500 people will also be made in the tower.
Apart from this, facilities like library, crush, canteen, cafeteria and food courts will be available, along with Wi-Fi, CCTV cameras, lift, escalator, central air conditioning, audio-video system conference halls, sewage treatment plants and rainwater harvesting.
Along with parking facilities, there will be landscaping, open area and terraced garden, in which electric charging points will be arranged for vehicles.
