Aldi is opening an average of one new store a week till the end of this year as part of its £650million plan to build and refurbish its stores across the UK. According to the officials, a total of 23 new stores will be opened this year. Each store involved in this programme is expected to create around 40 new jobs. At present, Aldi operates 1,050 stores across the UK and plans to expand that number to 1,500.
The investment aims at improving shopping experiences for Aldi's customers nationwide. Expanding on the stores already scheduled to open in the coming two months-such as Fulham Broadway in London and Deeside in Wales-the UK's fourth-largest supermarket has now announced additional locations set to launch soon, although it hasn't yet provided a full list of the stores to open in 2025.
New stores will be opening in areas including Pendle Drive in Litherland, Pacific Drive in Eastbourne, Brimington in Chesterfield, and Shoreditch in London. Each will provide customers with Aldi's signature low prices, fresh British-sourced produce, and popular Specialbuys.
Shoppers in Meadowfield, Durham and Ashford, Kent can also look forward to new Aldi branches, while 35 existing stores across the UK are slated for refurbishment before the year's end.
Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: "At Aldi, our goal is to make sure people across the UK have access to affordable, high-quality food, and opening new stores is key to making that happen.
"We are now opening an average of one new store a week for the rest of 2025, showing just how ambitious our plans are to build a store network that will help us reach millions of new customers.
"But it's not just about openings - it's also about making sure we have the best-paid teams in place to run them."
In June, Aldi announced plans to hire 1,000 new employees to support its expanding store network, as it accelerates store openings through the end of the year.
