Bada from first generation K-pop group S.E.S recently shared a handwritten apology on her social media account. She shared how she promoted a product and made false claims for it to promote it to the public. The idol had appeared on a variety show where she had promoted a cream; however, was faced a lot of backlash for spreading false information.
Bada issues an apology statement
The singer’s apology statement started with, “I deeply apologise to everyone who was disappointed by this incident,” she wrote. “I will strive to act with greater responsibility moving forward”.
She also shared how it was her fault for not researching and learning about the product more before promoting it. “It is shameful that I failed to do so and caused confusion among viewers by presenting inaccurate information. I sincerely apologise again”, she added.
What happened?
The idol had recently appeared on an online variety show called ‘Glamme’. She ended up promoting a wrinkle cream, and even publicly made claims about how she had seen the cream being used in Australia in order to sell it better to her customers.
This claim, however, was proven as false later on, and is from Korea . Not only that, but the product had previously been embroiled in controversy about how tits company had been using marketing tactics and exaggerating the truth in order to sell it to the public.
Since then, the video has been removed from online channels.
Idol’s company also issues a statement
According to The Korea Times, the idol’s agency also issued a statement after the backlash. They stated that “As the agency, we should have thoroughly reviewed the product’s distribution and quality, but we failed to do so and allowed our artist to appear in the content”. They also issued clarifications about the promo, sharing that the product and video script had been provided to them by an “external production company”. All Bada did was follow the script that was provided to her for the job.
They also shared that they have cut ties with the firm, and have also shared that they will be taking action against those who spread misinformation.
