Genesis Cars India: Hyundai, the South Korean car manufacturer, is planning to bring its luxury car brand ‘Genesis', to India. Rumors of Genesis entering the Indian market have existed since 2019. Tarun Garg, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hyundai, recently confirmed that the brand is evaluating Genesis’ entry to the country. The brand is also planning to launch 26 cars by the end of the financial year 2029-30.
Currently, the luxury car segment in the country holds only around 1 percent of the whole passenger vehicle market. However, factors like rising buying power and aspirations have led the segment to grow steadily. The segment is currently valued at around 1.2 billion dollars, but it is expected to reach 1.9 billion dollars by 2030.
Hyundai recently announced its annual report for FY25, in which Tarun Garg said ‘We are also strategically evaluating the introduction of Genesis, Hyundai’s global luxury marque. This aligns with our aspiration to serve the evolving expectations of discerning Indian consumers.’ The introduction of Genesis is expected to place Hyundai in a more robust position in the Indian market. While the brand is planning to introduce Genesis in the country, it is also planning to launch a total of 26 new models by FY30, including 20 ICE vehicles and 6 electric vehicles.
