The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a new guideline for class 10th and 12th students, under which at least 75 percent attendance is necessary for class 10th-12th students to appear in the board examination. At the same time, students have been given a 25 percent exemption in attendance for dealing with a medical emergency, participating in national or international sports events, or for other serious reasons. According to the official information, in such cases, students will have to submit evidence or records related to it. Any student taking leave for medical or other reasons will have to apply to the school with proper documents at the time of leave, as leave without written request will be considered as absence.

The board said that schools will have to regularly monitor and maintain accurate attendance records. The attendance register should be updated daily, and the class teacher and the competent authority of the school should sign the register.

If the child is absent, inform the parents.
If a student is repeatedly absent from school or fails to meet the required attendance, schools have been instructed to inform the parents in writing. The official notification of CBSE states, 'Regular attendance is necessary not only to meet the examination requirements of the board but also to promote a responsible and efficient personality. Therefore, all schools are once again instructed to convey this information to their students on time.

CBSE can conduct a surprise inspection
CBSE can conduct surprise inspections to check the attendance records of students. If the records are found incomplete during such inspections, strict action can be taken against the school, including cancellation of its recognition. Recently, the board found many fake students during surprise inspections in 15 schools in Delhi, Chandigarh, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The board said, 'Necessary action will be taken after considering the report of the inspection committee. CBSE is committed to maintaining educational standards and will continue to take strict action against any violation of its rules.
