Hybrid vehicles are steadily gaining traction in India, and Toyota has firmly established itself as the dominant player in this segment for FY2025. According to data from Auto Punditz, the Japanese automaker accounted for four out of the top five best-selling hybrid models in the country.

At the top of the list is the Toyota Innova Hycross, which emerged as the highest-selling hybrid model with 53,005 units sold. The MPV has seen a strong demand from both fleet operators and private buyers. It is equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol-hybrid engine that delivers 183 hp and 191 Nm of peak torque. Prices for the hybrid variants begin at Rs 26.46 lakh (ex-showroom).
Following closely is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, which recorded 26,834 units sold during the fiscal year. Sharing its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, the Hyryder features a 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine producing 91 hp and 122 Nm. The model is priced from Rs 16.81 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara secured third position with 16,636 units sold. Despite offering identical powertrain specifications to the Hyryder, the Grand Vitara trails slightly in sales. Hybrid variants are priced from Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
In fourth place is the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, a rebadged version of the Innova Hycross under the Nexa brand. It recorded 4,036 units sold and is powered by the same 2.0-litre petrol-hybrid engine producing 183 hp. Prices start at Rs 25.51 lakh (ex-showroom).
Completing the top five is the Toyota Camry, which continues to cater to a niche executive sedan audience. With 1,854 units sold, it remains a steady performer in its segment. The Camry is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid engine producing 230 hp. Its prices start at Rs 48.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Other honourable mentions include the Honda City eHEV, with 1,280 units sold in FY2025, with the Toyota Vellfire rounding it up with 1,155 units. These models are priced at Rs 19.89 lakh and Rs 1.22 crore (ex-showroom), respectively.
