Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Tanmay Vekaria , who is loved for his role as Bagha, recently remembered the late actor Ghanshyam Nayak . He opened up about how Nayak’s final wish was fulfilled at his funeral. In a recent interview with Filmygyan, Tanmay spoke about his memories with his late co-star Ghanshyam Nayak and shared an emotional detail from the funeral that left fans touched by the veteran actor’s unwavering dedication to his craft.
Tanmay, who plays Bagha in the long-running sitcom, shared a close bond with Nayak, known to audiences as Nattu Kaka . The two worked together for years and developed a relationship that extended beyond being co-actors. Recalling Nayak’s discipline and passion for acting, Tanmay said, “He never compromised with his performance or appearance. Whether he was healthy or not, he was always fully prepared.”
Ghanshyam Nayak had been associated with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah since its early years and had become one of the most iconic characters on the show. His portrayal of Nattu Kaka, Jethalal’s loyal employee at Gada Electronics, was loved by viewers for his wit, expressions, and impeccable comic timing.
Reflecting on the time of his passing, Tanmay recalled the moment he found out about Nayak’s death. “I got a call from his son on October 3, 2021, saying ‘Papa is no more.’ I was shocked,” he said. Nayak had been diagnosed with carcinoma, and although he was undergoing treatment, he continued shooting for the show as long as his health allowed.
Tanmay further revealed how Ghanshyam Nayak’s family fulfilled the actor’s last wish at his funeral. “His last wish was that when he died, he should have make-up on his face. For that, a make-up artist was called,” he said.


The team of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah deeply mourned his loss, with many co-stars sharing emotional tributes at the time. Tanmay’s recent recollection offers a moving glimpse into the affection and respect the cast shared with Nayak, both on and off screen.
