Samastipur Railway Division has got a new leadership. Jyoti Prakash Mishra, a 1998 batch officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service, took charge as Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) on Wednesday. He was warmly welcomed by all the officers and employees of the division at a ceremony held at Samastipur Divisional Office.

After taking charge, Mishra got acquainted with the officials and also saw a brief presentation regarding the functioning of Samastipur division.

Education and service background

Jyoti Prakash Mishra has received higher education from the Hindu College of Delhi University and has been a gold medalist of his batch. He is an officer of the Senior Administrative Grade (SAG) of the Railways and has worked in important departments such as operations, commerce and general administration in the last 25 years.

He has been awarded prestigious honors like General Manager Award (2008), Railway Minister Award (2009 and 2019) for his remarkable contribution to railway service.

Transfers of pre -drm

After the transfer and promotion of former DRM Vinay Srivastava, he will now take charge in Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) as Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME).

New DRM priorities

DRM Mishra made it clear that his priority will be the strength of the convenience, travel safety, timeliness, and public hearing of the passengers. He clarified his priorities in 7 points:

Improvement in passenger facilities

Expansion of features like waiting room, drinking water, hygiene, digital display, lift-eskalator in station complexes.

Special arrangements for disabled and senior citizens.

Travel safety paramount

Strictness in track maintenance and safety inspection.

To further strengthen CCTV monitoring in stations and trains.

Special attention to timeliness

Improvement in operational system.

Upgradation of signaling system and loop lines.

Public hearing and accountability

Effective public hearing mechanisms will be developed at the division level.

Quick settlement of complaints of passengers.

Work as per the expectations of the local public

Review of halt, stagnation and connectivity according to local needs.

To bring Samastipur division to new standards of development.

Cleanliness and environmental protection

Strict sanitation system under ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.

Promoting solar energy, rainwater harvesting and waste management.

Welfare of employees

Emphasis on increasing training and facility for employees.

Priority solution to the problems of retired employees.

Drm message

Mishra said,

“Samastipur division is one of the important railway divisions of the country. It will be my endeavor to experience a safe, comfortable, time -bound and reliable rail service.”
