Registered Post Box Discontinued: A false claim has been circulating on social media suggesting that Registered Post has been discontinued and letters can no longer be sent. India Post has now officially clarified the matter.

As part of its modernisation drive, India Post has announced that the iconic Registered Post service will be merged with Speed Post from 1 September 2025. This move comes after more than 50 years of Registered Post being a trusted and affordable service.

The Department of Posts says the integration aims to streamline mail operations, improve delivery timelines, and optimise logistics resources. By rationalising its sorting infrastructure and unifying the processing of Registered and Speed Post items, India Post expects to enhance backend efficiency, reduce transit delays, and improve connectivity across its network.
