Bloodlines co-writer to develop Final Destination 7 script
According to a report from
The Hollywood Reporter, Lori Evans Taylor, who co-authored
Bloodlines, has been chosen to write the script for the next installment. This decision comes after
Bloodlines, which premiered in May, grossed over $286 million worldwide, including an impressive $138.1 million in the domestic market. The sixth film in the enduring horror series was also the first to be released in theaters since 2011, marking a successful comeback for the franchise.
Not only did
Bloodlines perform well, but it also became the franchise’s most lucrative entry to date, with its domestic revenue surpassing that of the previous record-holder, 2009’s
The Final Destination, by more than double. The screenplay was written by Taylor in collaboration with Guy Busick (
Ready or Not), based on a story developed with Busick and
Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts, who also played a significant creative role in the film. The blockbuster was directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.
More about Final Destination 7
The forthcoming
Final Destination 7 will feature familiar faces behind the scenes. Franchise producer Craig Perry and veteran Sheila Hanahan Taylor are making their return, alongside Watts and his wife Dianne McGunigle, as well as Toby Emmerich. Warren Zide will take on the role of executive producer.
While plot specifics for the new installment are still under wraps, if past experiences are any indication, viewers can anticipate another tension-filled, Rube Goldberg–style sequence of near-death experiences and horrific outcomes. With Taylor leading the scriptwriting, fans are already preparing for an even more perilous array of situations.
