GATE 2026: Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has released the syllabus for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2026 exam. Candidates who are planning to appear for the GATE exam this time or are preparing for it must check the syllabus once. The syllabus is available on the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

The GATE exam is scheduled to be held from February 7, 2025. The registration process will be on its official website from August 25. Interested candidates will be able to apply without a late fee till September 25. The engineering entrance exam will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The result will be released on March 19, 2026.

It is worth noting that the marks of the GATE 2026 exam will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result. The GATE 2026 score will also be used for recruitment in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

As per the official notification, a candidate can appear for one or two exam papers. "Only selected two-paper combinations are allowed for candidates appearing in two papers," the notification said.

The aptitude test paper will have a total of 30 full and sectional question papers. A new section on Energy Science has been included in one paper of Engineering Sciences.

The exam paper will be in English and will carry a total of 100 marks. The General Aptitude (GA) subject will be common for all papers, carrying 15 marks, while the remaining papers will cover other exam syllabus and carry 85 marks.

As per the marking scheme, for each correct answer, candidates will be awarded one or two marks, depending on the question paper. Whereas, for every question carrying 1 mark, 1/3 marks will be deducted and for every wrong answer carrying 2 marks, 2/3 marks will be deducted.
