Janmashtami 2025: The birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great pomp across the country on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. It is believed that on this day, Lord Krishna was incarnated in Mathura in Rohini Nakshatra at midnight. Devotees fast, perform bhajan-kirtan and worship the birth anniversary by worshiping at Nishita Kaal at night.
However, in 2025, there is confusion about the date of Janmashtami. According to the almanac, Ashtami Tithi will start from 11:48 pm on 15 August 2025 and end at 9:34 pm on 16 August 2025. But astrological point of view, on the midnight of August 16, Ashtami Tithi, Rohini Nakshatra, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, Amrit Siddhi Yoga and Nishita Kaal are being confluent, which is considered the most auspicious for worship.
According to the Panchang, the exact date of Shri Krishna Janmashtami 2025 is August 16 on the basis of Udaya Tithi. The main birth anniversary will be celebrated on this day, including Mathura-Vrindavan.
