Veteran players of Indian cricket team Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been in the news for some time. Both players expressed their desire to play in the 2027 World Cup. But BCCI and coach Gautam Gambhir wants that if these two players have to remain in the ODI team, then they will have to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. But do you know when these two players last played the Vijay Hazare Trophy match?

When did Kohli play in Vijay Hazare?

The Vijay Hazare Trophy starts on 24 December. Virat Kohli last played in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the 2009-10 season. On February 18, Delhi faced Services in Gurgaon. The special thing is that Virat Kohli led the team. But he could not perform well with the bat. He scored only 16 runs, including three fours. However, Delhi scored 311 runs and stopped the services for only 198 runs. With this, Delhi won the match by 113 runs.

Rohit Sharma played in 2018

Rohit Sharma’s last Vijay Hazare Trophy match was the semi -final. The match was played between Mumbai and Hyderabad on 17 October 2018 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After the rain in that match, Mumbai had a target of 96 runs. Rohit scored 17 runs in 24 balls. He was dismissed for 73 runs in 9.5 overs. Eventually, Mumbai made it to the final against Delhi. But Rohit did not play in that match.

Significantly, the BCCI had made a similar demand from senior players before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024. He ordered senior players to return to the Ranji Trophy. Meaning it is clear, the BCCI wants to give young players a chance. Therefore, he is putting pressure on senior players.
