Patna. The cabinet meeting at the center of Bihar’s politics and administrative decisions has once again brought good news for millions of state employees and former political prisoners. A total of 30 agendas were approved in this meeting held at the Cabinet Room at the Chief Secretariat on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This meeting not only emphasized financial decisions, but also many concrete steps were taken in social and industrial directions.
Increase in salary of BLO and Supervisor
Following the instructions of the Election Commission of India, the Government of Bihar has decided to increase the annual salary of booth level officer (BLO) and BLO Supervisor. The annual salary of Blo has been increased from ₹ 10,000 to ₹ 14,000. The salary of BLO Supervisor has been increased from ₹ 15,000 to ₹ 18,000.
Around 90,712 BLOs and 8,245 supervisors are employed across Bihar. This salary increase will increase the additional burden of about ₹ 38.75 crore in the annual expenditure on the government, but this will help in making the electoral system more transparent and effective at the ground level.
Honors to fighters of Lok Nayak Movement
Apart from this, during the stringent laws like MISA and DIR during the JP movement, the agitators who were jailed will now be given more pension. People who have been in jail for 1 to 6 months now ₹ 15,000 per month (first ₹ 7,500), people in jail for more than 6 months now ₹ 30,000 per month (first ₹ 15,000), this decision not only symbolizes honoring those who contributed to history, but also reminds the coming generations of democracy struggles.
