New Delhi: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made it easier for PF account holders to link their Universal Account Number (UAN) with Aadhaar. Now, employees don’t need to visit the EPFO office multiple times or submit heavy paperwork for profile updates or KYC. The entire process can be done digitally, enabling instant access to PF-related services.

No EPFO approval needed for KYC

From August 13, 2025, if the name, date of birth, and gender in your UAN profile match with your Aadhaar details, you can link Aadhaar via the KYC portal through your employer without waiting for separate EPFO approval. This makes the process much faster.

Correcting mismatched details with Joint Declaration Form

If there is a mismatch in your name, date of birth, or gender between Aadhaar and UAN, your employer can submit an online Joint Declaration Form to request corrections. If the wrong Aadhaar has been linked by mistake, this form can also be used to replace it with the correct one. The process is now simpler and doesn’t require multiple levels of approval.

For employees of closed companies

If your employer is not available or your company has shut down, you can submit a physical Joint Declaration Form at the PRO counter of the EPFO regional office. After verification, the PRO will raise the correction request online, ensuring that even employees of closed companies can update their profiles or KYC without trouble.

Linking Aadhaar via UMANG App

The easiest way to link Aadhaar with UAN is through the UMANG App. Just enter your UAN, verify with OTP, fill in Aadhaar details, and complete the final OTP verification. The process is free and can be done from anywhere.
