Aldi has announced that more than 20 of its stores will be undergoing huge upgrades, with improvements set to be made to shops across the UK. And the upgrades should happen before the end of the year.

This comes as part of the latest phase of its investment in enhancing the shopping experience for customers nationwide. Between now and December, two Aldi stores - Barrow-in-Furness in Cumbria and Ebbw Vale in Wales - will undergo major extensions. A further 21 stores will benefit from other upgrades, including refreshed fixtures, enhanced layouts and improved sustainability features.

These upgrades form part of the supermarket's ongoing store enhancement rollout, building on the success of the original upgrade programme, which has already delivered modernised layouts, more space for fresh and chilled products and brighter, wider aisles to more than 500 stores across the UK.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said: "Our investment into our store estate is part of our ongoing commitment to provide the very best shopping experience for our customers.

"By extending and refreshing our existing sites, we're providing more sustainable and convenient stores, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of the communities they serve for years to come."

Aldi is also continuing its ambitious growth plans in 2025, with around 40 new store openings planned across the UK this year alone - further increasing its accessibility for customers nationwide.
