Sarah Ferguson once gave a cryptic, six-word reply after being asked about Prince Andrew potentially moving out of their home, Royal Lodge. The Duke of York has been in a reported dispute over renovations at the 30-room property in Windsor, thought to be worth £30million.
Fergie, as she is affectionately known, has been living in the 19th-century Grade-II listed building with Andrew since 2003 despite being divorced for many years. The Crown Estate, which owns it, granted the Duke a 75-year lease agreement.
Last year, Andrew's stay in the Royal Lodge was uncertain after reports suggested the King wanted to evict him and move him to a smaller residence as he was struggling with its upkeep.
Andrew's 75-year lease agreement highlighted that he is required to "repair, renew, uphold, clean and keep in repair and, where necessary, rebuild" the mansion.
It also specified that the walls of the mansion must be repainted every five years "with two coats of paint", while inside the house, the duke is forced to "paint with at least two coats of paint and to paper, polish, decorate and otherwise appropriately treat" every seven years, starting from 2010.
During that time, when news of the monarch withdrawing private funding for Andrew's £3m security emerged, Fergie was asked by Spanish ¡HOLA! TV about rumours regarding Andrew's eviction.
But her remark appeared to neither confirm or deny anything as she said: "Don't always believe what you read."
The interviewer then pushed on the matter, but the Duchess claimed she wasn't privy to the conversations.
She replied: "I don't know. I take every day as it comes."
Royal Lodge has more than 30 rooms, including seven bedrooms.
The mansion used to be the home to King George VI and the Queen Mother when they were still the Duke and Duchess of York, before Edward VIII's abdication in 1936.
The Queen Mother continued to use the Windsor home until her death.
Andrew's daughters, who the duke was said to be hoping to pass his home on to, do not live at the mansion.
Princess Beatrice lives with her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, in The Cotswolds, while Princess Eugenie splits her time between Portugal and the UK with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.
