Animal lovers in Siliguri, West Bengal staged a protest against the Supreme Court order that directed all stray dogs to be transferred to Shelter Homes within eight weeks in Delhi-NCR. The protesters say that this order is inhuman and threatens both freedom and life of stray dogs. NGOs and Animal Rights Activists demanded waxing, sterilization and strengthening of shelter facilities instead of the move. He says that forcibly capturing and capturing dogs is against the co-existence of humans and animals and this will also adversely affect the urban environment. The protesters appealed that the court should discuss social and practical aspects before implementing its order.
