Sufi Motiwala, a social media influencer who gained fame from Karan Johar's reality series The Traitors on Prime Video, has announced the end of his friendship with fellow influencer and actress Apoorva Mukhija, known as The Rebel Kid. Their close bond, which fans cherished during the show, has reportedly unraveled off-screen.
In a recent update on his Instagram Stories, Sufi addressed circulating rumors that he had exploited Apoorva for fame. He stated, "I’ve received numerous messages claiming I used Apoorva for clout and abandoned her. The truth is, I never collaborated with her on any reels and appeared on her YouTube channel only twice, both times for her content."
He elaborated that his decision to step back was due to a lack of accountability in their friendship and the emotional toll from online harassment by her followers. "I’m not sorry for not using her for clout. We were on the same show without prior knowledge of each other, and I don’t need her fame. I wanted to be friends with Apoorva, not just The Rebel Kid. When I felt unacknowledged for how I was treated, I chose to distance myself," he explained.
Sufi further mentioned, "I even asked her to tell her followers to ease up on the abuse directed at me. Unfortunately, this person who referred to me as her best friend showed no concern for my feelings. That’s why our friendship has ended. Let’s keep things respectful and move on," he concluded.
Sufi concluded, "I don’t care if you think I’m a terrible person. I’ve worked hard to achieve my current status, and I won’t allow a group of individuals to undermine that by spreading falsehoods."
Fans had previously admired the duo's camaraderie during The Traitors, but recent social media interactions suggest a rift. They have stopped mentioning each other online, and Sufi has unfollowed Apoorva on Instagram, despite having attended events together, including one in Australia. Apoorva has not yet responded to Sufi's remarks.
