A major UK road has been shut off this morning following a crash, causing traffic chaos. Traffic on the A56 in Rossendale is currently being held, according to the traffic service Inrix.

The delays happened after a lorry struck the central reservation barrier, National Highways said in an update on social media. Drivers are being advised to plan alternative routes. Local police expect to be at the scene for "some time".
