Millions of Brits on benefits will receive their payments earlier than usual ahead of the August Bank holiday weekend. The UK Government announced that benefits will be paid on Friday, August 22, to people expecting them on August 25.

This change affects millions of people across the country who rely on various forms of financial support. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) confirmed that payments for Universal Credit, Child Benefit, State Pension, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance, Carer's Allowance, and Disability Living Allowance will all be included in this early payment. The adjustment ensures that recipients have access to their funds ahead of the long weekend, helping them manage expenses without delay.

The early payment initiative ensures that beneficiaries receive their funds ahead of the holiday weekend, avoiding delays caused by bank and Government office closures.

According to the Government, this proactive measure is intended to provide financial reassurance, especially as families gear up for the back-to-school season and the expenses that come with it.

Disability minister Sir Stephen Timms said: "We know how much families rely on these payments, and by bringing them forward ahead of the bank holiday we're ensuring no one has to worry about whether their support will be there when they need it most.

"This is especially important ahead of the new school year - no family should have to choose between buying school supplies and putting food on the table.

"This is what our Plan for Change is all about - putting working families and the most vulnerable first and ensuring every family has the security they need to plan for the future."

However, people should be mindful that being paid earlier means they will need to stretch their money for a few more days throughtout late August and September, with the next payment coming on September 25.

It comes as nine million state pensioners are set to receive up to £300 this winter. The money will be handed out through the Winter Fuel Payment, which is designed to provide extra help during the colder months.

Despite initial proposals to slash the scheme, a government reversal has ensured that many will still be entitled to the additional funds.

The government announced in a June statement: "Nine million pensioners to receive Winter Fuel Payments this winter as all pensioners in England and Wales with an income of, or below, £35,000 a year will benefit from a Winter Fuel Payment."
