Hartalika teej fast: The fast of Hartalika Teej is celebrated on the Tritiya Tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This time this fast will be held on 26 August. This fast is mainly observed by women to wish for good luck and husband’s long life, while virgin girls do it to get a good husband. This fast is 24 hours, in which it is necessary to follow special rules and precautions, so that the body does not come weak during the Nirjala fasting.
This fast is considered difficult and sacred, which Goddess Parvati did to get Lord Shiva in the form of husband. For this reason, Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva are worshiped on this day and good luck is wished in life. Some precautions should be taken before starting this fast, so that hunger and thirst can be avoided.
Do not eat fried and roasted food a day before the fast, because it makes the stomach full and thirsty. Apart from this, avoid caffeinated drinks like tea, coffee and soda, as they can dehydrate the body and increase thirst. Do not eat fried sweet like Gulab Jamun, Malpua before the fast, because they dry the throat and feel thirsty.
Speaking more on the day of fasting can also cause thirst, so apply the mind in devotion to Shiva and Parvati and speak less. During the fast, take care of the right diet a day in advance to avoid hunger and thirst. Drink fresh fruits and juices, such as cucumber, pineapple and strawberry, so that the body remains hydrated and energy remains.
Those who eat sargi in the morning should include coconut water in their sargi, because it maintains the balance of electrolytes in the body and reduces thirst. Apart from this, eating dry fruits like cashew, almonds and walnuts also keeps energy in the body and reduces thirst.
Thus, it is necessary to observe the fast of Hartalika Teej carefully and properly, so that this fast is physically healthy and mentally blissful.
