The government has clarified that this step is necessary to ensure smooth access to transport-related services and driving license facilities. The process will be done through Aadhaar authentication.
Why is mobile number linking important?According to officials, many vehicle owners frequently change their mobile numbers or addresses to avoid paying fines. Linking numbers will help the transport departments track updates and ensure transparency. Reports also suggest that in the future, the government may make Aadhaar-linked address updates mandatory for all license and registration services.
Where to update details?You can update or add your mobile number online through the Vahan (for vehicles/RC) and Sarathi (for driving license) portals. State transport departments are also sending alerts to people, urging them to update their details as soon as possible.
How to Link Mobile Number with Vehicle RC (Registration Certificate)?Visit the official website: parivahan.gov.in
Select the option “Update Mobile Number through Aadhaar”
