Suzuki has now announced its fourth production line in Gujarat. For this, the company will invest around Rs 3,200 crore. The main focus of this new line will be on the production of electric vehicles (EVS). This investment is part of the big strategy under which the company has already announced to create a 7,300 crore battery plant and an EV manufacturing unit of Rs 3,100 crore.
Gujarat attracted several global automobile companies for investment between 2012 and 2015. But the real change came in 2014, when Suzuki tied up with the state government to set up a mega plant. Since then, the company has been continuously investing largely. It not only employed thousands of youth, but also strengthened auto component ecosystem.
Today, the Gujarat plant of Suzuki Motor is counted among the largest automobile production centers in India. Due to the strong port connectivity of the state, Gujarat has now also become a big export hub. In 2024 only about ₹ 3,459 crore vehicles were exported to countries like South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Japan, UAE and Chile.
The state government is now preparing to display these achievements in the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRC). On this platform, Global investors will show new opportunities in Gujarat, automobile and its associated sectors.
